Hatha Yoga is said to be a combination of moon and sun. The word ‘Hatha’ is symbolic of the pair of two opposites as ‘HA’ refers to ‘sun’ and ‘THA’ refers to ‘moon’.

Hatha Yoga is a technique of yoga that requires internal force and it is done to develop internal strength and energy. Due to this particular reason, it is often regarded as forceful yoga. There are ways according to which the body should be given a movement.

Hatha yoga is akin to Tantra yoga

Hatha yoga is said to be a stream of tantra yoga. It is one of the most famous Indian traditions and a way of performing the art of pranayam and different postures of yoga. This means that the entire focus in this yoga is also on breathing like many others. It is because the breathing system is connected to all the other essential organs of the body and if the breathing exercises are performed properly most of the problems can be cured easily.

The proper practice of Pranayam helps in revitalizing the body channels which are called as nadis. Hatha yoga is an essential practice for the mind and brain and is considered as a path of concentrating on the Ashtanga yoga. There are 8-fold paths of the yoga of this type from among Hatha yoga focuses on 3rd and 4th position.

Hatha yoga is performed for healing problems related to the physical and mental balance and concentration which are termed as Samadhi and Dharana respectively. It is also done for removing the problems of meditation (dhyana) and sense withdrawal (pratyahara). There are certain elements of hatha yoga which needs to be kept in mind while performing the yoga. One of it is that during the entire technique, where different postures and asana’s are performed, there should be at least one posture in which meditation is done properly. This will help a lot in improving the self will. Not just there would be an improvement in other meditation techniques. It will automatically open the way to hatha yoga. An essential objective of hatha yoga is to provide true and open spirit to the mind and the body. This particular task gets automatically fulfilled by continuously practicing the breathing and meditation asanas of yoga.
