Mediation for Beginners
Have you been feeling tired, stressed and overworked lately? Do you feel that you have reached your limits or that you can not handle pressure anymore? If this is so, then meditation is the answer to all your problems.

Meditation is an art which requires you to focus your attention on a single entity. It makes your mind calmer, helps you overcome stress and eliminates negative energy from within. Although it seems easier, it is important to learn how to meditate properly before you actually start practicing it. Most of the people try meditation at some point of their lives, but a very small number actually continue it for a longer period of time. This is the reason why you must begin with a mindset to sustain it.
Here are some tips to help you start mediation:Correct Posture
- One of the most important points to keep in mind is to have a correct posture while meditating. Incorrect posture can result in negative effects, causing back ache and other problems.
- The preferred sitting position is to sit crossed legs on the floor, with your back absolutely straight, but not arched backwards. Do not use any backrest
- You should relax your arms but remember to keep straight and be still. Your hands should be kept your legs in a relaxed manner. Since this is not an easy journey and it requires discipline, you must work hard towards it and resist the urge to fall back or slouch.
- It would be helpful if you can imagine yourself traveling beyond time and let your mind travel into the farthest expanse of space. Then feel as if you are letting go of all of it and then feel nothing.
Stay Quiet and Relaxed
- To feel relaxed, you must be at peace. You must let your mind be free from all words and thoughts. It is only at that point when you are empty of all words and thoughts, that you will be able to relax.
- Also remember to take it easy and not overdo it. Do not get worried if you are not able to be quiet or relax. You will be able to do it in some time. That is the reason you are meditating.
Controlling Your Breathing
- Next, you have to learn to control your breathing. Breathing techniques are easy to learn and practice.
- Regulate your breathing by slowing it down. Take deep breaths while inhaling and exhaling alternately. While you are doing this, you will find that your heart beat starts to slow down as well and you feel much calmer.
Have a Specific Time
- You must set a specific time to practice meditation and must follow it regularly. If you really wish to have all the benefits of meditation, it must be followed religiously and with complete dedication. By keeping a time, you will be mentally prepared and motivated to do it regularly.
Appreciate
- When you are done with meditation, be appreciative of what it does to your mind, body and soul. Acknowledging the benefits of meditation is one of the best ways to have the motivation of doing it regularly.
