  2. The surgeon makes an incision on right/left side of the lower abdomen just above the groin.
  3. The donor kidney is placed in the abdomen and the kidney’s blood vessels are connected to the recipient’s iliac artery and vein.
  4. Ureter is then connected to the bladder.
  5. To drain any excess fluid, a Jackson Pratt (small drain) is placed in the abdominal cavity, if required.
